On December 11, under the guidance of Shenzhen Intermediate People's Court, Shenzhen Law Society, Shanghai Law Society, and Guangdong Lawyers Association, BCI & BIMC organized the Legal+ 2019 • Leap——Legal Services Next summit with Shanghai Beststone Information & Technology in Shenzhen. Over 500 guests attended the summit, including directors from domestic political and legal departments, general counsel of well-known enterprises, representatives of top LegalTech companies and law firms in China or from abroad.
Mr. Andy See, senior consultant of BCI & BIMC, hosted the round-table discussion on the topic of "Precision: Present and Future of Legal Services Empowered by Technology". In this session, guest speakers analyzed the development opportunities in the legal service industry, and further discussed the current and future development trends in China's legal service industry.
During the panel discussion entitled "Change and Ascending dimension——Next Corporate Legal Services", Ms. Li Zhuoying, BCI & BIMC's President of Council, delivered a speech around "Prevention of and Response to Risks in the "Belt and Road Initiative". Ms. Li pointed out that in the context of the construction of the "Belt and Road" initiative, companies "going global" must raise their awareness of risk prevention and invest more in risk evaluation and prevention. Hence, she recommended considering foreign law ascertainment as a basic part of risk prevention. With the Singapore Mediation Convention being open for signature and China being the first signatory to the Convention, it is foreseeable that international commercial mediation will play an increasingly important role in the dispute settlement between countries along the "Belt and Road" corridor.
Ms. Han Ting, BCI & BIMC's Council Member, introduced the approach BCI & BIMC has taken in its exploration of innovative forms of foreign-related legal services, in two aspects——demands for and innovative exploration in public legal services.
