BCI & BIMC: AN INNOVATIVE, INTERNATIONAL ONE-STOP LEGAL SERVICE PLATFORM

Benchmark Chambers International & Benchmark International Mediation Center (BCI&BIMC), formerly known as Benchmark Chambers International. Founded in 2014, BCI&BIMC is a non-profit organization registered with Civil Affairs Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, and with Justice Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality as its business-guidance providing unit. BCI&BIMC is the Base of Supreme People’s Court of China for Discerning Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and Foreign Law, the task implementation unit determined by Guangdong Department of Justice and Guangdong Provincial Office of Pilot Free Trade Zones to advance the construction of free trade zone, and the task assistance unit of Shenzhen Qianhai&Shekou area of China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone.

According to Article 49 in the Opinions on Implementation of the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (hereinafter referred to as Opinions) issued by the Guangdong Provincial Government in July 2019, an "international commercial mediation center which covers international commercial mediation services and foreign law ascertainment services" should be established. With the strong support of the Justice Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, the former BCI has added “mediation” to its function on the basis of the original foreign law ascertainment platform, therefore, BCI & BMIC has changed into an international commercial mediation center with function of international commercial mediation and foreign law ascertainment.
